Poinsettia Petals- Masking Technique

Today’s card uses the Poinsettia Petals stamp set, Poinsettia Dies and a pretty cool masking technique. Keep reading to see how I made this card!

To start this card, I stamped a poinsettia in Memento ink. I then stamp another onto a post it note and cut it out making sure to have a bit of the sticky part left.

I then placed the post it note over the stamped poinsettia creating a mask. Then I stamped my leaves from the Poinsettia Petals stamp set.

My leaves were a bit off when I removed the mask. To fix this, I used the Dark Basic Black blend to connect my leaves to my flower. You could also re stamp if you’re using the Stamparatus.

Next, I colored my flower and leaves using Stampin Blends. I used a mix of Night of Navy and Balmy Blue for the flower and Granny Apple Green and Old Olive for the leaves.

Then I used a water painter to “flick” some splatters of Night of Navy ink. I then did the same with Wink Of Stella for some sparkle.

I die cut my sentiment using the Stitched Rectangle Dies and also created a frame using those Dies. To finish, I added a few Blue Adhesive Backed Gems.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card! Be sure to follow my facebook page for more ideas using the Poinsettia Petals stamp set!
